I take this opportunity to thank the Ramon Magsaysay Technological University in Iba, Zambales, for the singular honor it conferred upon me by granting me a honorary Doctorate of Laws on April 3, and for the immediate approval of the grant by the chairman of the Commission on Higher Education. The citation accompanying the conferral said in part:
“The Ramon Magsaysay Technological University, pursuant to its mandate, gives official recognition to individuals for their outstanding contributions in the fields of education, public service, arts, science and technology, business and industry.
“In its commitment to honor exemplary leaders, the University recognizes the outstanding achievements and contributions of Hon. Raul M. Gonzalez, Secretary, Department of Justice, in the fields of law and legislation. Truly, his achievements and contributions in the fields of law and legislation continue to make a difference in the lives of the Filipino people, worthy of emulation and recognition.”
My family and I are deeply honored by this rare and precious recognition of my work, and I am most grateful.
